Early next-gen adopters who chose to pick up a PlayStation 5 on release now have another use for their new DualSense controller: Steam gamepad.
Steam has added support for the DualSense controller for the Steam Client beta. Previously, the Xbox Series X was already an option for users, but now the DualSense is ready to go, sans a few features that are still being worked on.
“Added initial input support for the PS5 DualSense controller,” reads the official announcement. “Advanced features such as rumble, trackpad, and gyro are not yet supported.”
To participate in the beta, log into Steam, head to Settings, and then choose Account. There is an option to opt in or out of the Steam Client Beta. Make sure you’ve opted in, and you should be able to utilize Sony’s inventive new controller across a variety of games.
Once additional support for gyro controls and rumble are completed, the DualSense could become a fundamental part of PC gaming. Many users have opted for DualShock controllers with PC games in the past. Given that the DualSense is a vast improvement over its predecessor in many ways, it’s likely this new controller will become a serious contender in the realm of console peripherals being used on PC going forward.
