Tracking your fitness doesn’t have to be expensive, and OnePlus is proving that with its first fitness tracker which costs around $35. That’s less than the cost of a new Band for an Apple Watch.
As The Verge reports, OnePlus is launching the OnePlus Band in India first on Jan. 13, but for now there’s no word on a wider release. For very little money, OnePlus is offering a fitness tracker with 14-day battery life, 5ATM and IP68 water resistance, and a dual-color band design. It will keep track of your heart rate and offers continuous blood oxygen saturation monitoring. As you’d expect, it also tracks your overall fitness and sleep patterns.
The band is available in black, navy, or tangerine gray and weighs just 22.6 grams. The touch screen display is a 2.97-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 126-by-294 pixels and adjustable brightness. As well as the blood oxygen and heart rate sensor, the tracker includes a three-axis accelerometer and gyroscope and supports Bluetooth 5.0. Charging is handled using a wired USB Type A dongle.
A range of exercise modes will be offered including Outdoor Run, Indoor Run, Fat Burn Run, Outdoor Walk, Outdoor Cycling, Indoor Cycling, Elliptical Trainer, Rowing Machine, Cricket, Badminton, Pool Swimming, Yoga, and Free Training. The Band can also be used to get message and call notifications as well as control music playback, act as an alarm, stopwatch, a timer, and camera shutter control.
At $35, the OnePlus Band is sure to be popular, but potential customers need to keep in mind it will only work with Android 6.0 and above at launch. iOS compatibility is coming later on, but there’s no confirmed release date yet. Everything you need to use the tracker is in the box (including the charging dongle).
