with CLIPREVIEWED learn the articleMSI Reveals Summit E13 Flip, a Premium 2-in-1 for Professionals
MSI today announced the Summit E13 Flip, its a 2-in-1 laptop aimed at professionals. Traditionally a gaming-focused company, MSI has increasingly taken steps to expand its PC lineup into business and professional content-creator systems with its Summit, Creator, and Prestige lines. Earlier this year, we looked at the 15-inch Summit E15, and now the convertible Summit E13 Flip looks to take on favorites like the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1.
Although CES 2021 is an all-virtual show, we worked with MSI to bring you a closer look at this laptop. We held a video call to see a remote tour and find out more about the laptop, which you can watch in the video below…
A Super-Slim Convertible That Targets the Top Competition
No time for video? Here’s a quick recap of the E13 Flip. The Flip will start at $1,599, with a more expensive model available at $1,899. Both price points come in a black and white variant, which are identical to one another at each price.
First, the design. The body is all CNC-milled aluminum and weighs 2.9 pounds, putting it right in line with the XPS 13 and the Apple MacBook Air. It’s also just 0.58 inch thick. The screen is a 13.4-inch IPS panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio (a resolution of 1,920 by 1,200 pixels) in all models.
It’s a super-portable build, but its competitors are some of the most popular and well-received on the market. The E13 Flip has its work cut out to top this competition, and we’ll have to see how it feels in hand when we get a unit in for review.
Component Check: ‘Tiger Lake’ Processing, Plenty of RAM
Of course, what’s on the inside matters just as much. The processor and graphics are the same across all models; the chip used is the Tiger Lake Core i7-1185G7, and with it comes Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. There is no discrete graphics upgrade, even in the more expensive configurations.
From there, the two models differ in the rest of their components. The base model comes with 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. The $1,899 model offers a bump up of each, packing 32GB of memory and a 1TB SSD.
Both are supported by a nice array of features like Thunderbolt 4 support (via two USB Type-C ports), Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth (by way of Intel’s Tiger Lake platform), white key backlighting, a privacy shutter for the webcam, and support for the MSI Pen stylus. Due to its size and feature set, it also qualifies as an Intel Evo laptop.
