Developer IO Interactive is making sure gamers who invest in a high-end Intel processor get rewarded when playing Hitman 3.
A partnership has been announced between the game developer and Intel which will see both companies work to optimize the next Hitman game for high-end, multi-core processors. More specifically, the optimizations to IO’s proprietary Glacier game engine will target Intel chips with eight or more cores. IO says anyone using one of these processors to run the game will see a number of visual enhancements including more crowds and more complex destructibility in the environments. Of course, one of the recently released graphics cards is also going to enhance your experience, too.
IO is also promising to ship the game with Variable Rate Shading (VRS), which allows the shading rate to vary for different regions of each frame of the game. In so doing, it increases the overall rendering performance, and according to IO, “allows us to prioritize GPU resources where they have the biggest impact.” Surprisingly, though, ray tracing will be a feature of the game, but won’t arrive until after the game has launched. For now, we only know it will appear “later in 2021.” The game is scheduled for release on Jan. 29.
This month is the 20th anniversary of the Hitman franchise and IO says there will be more Hitman 3 announcements before November comes to an end. Perhaps we’re going to hear about optimizations for high-end AMD processors, too?
