Apple’s Fitness+, the company’s at-home fitness program, will launch next Monday, Dec. 14.
The service will appeal to consumers who’ve fully embraced Apple’s ecosystem of products. Fitness+ will display studio-style workouts over an iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV device. At the same time, the exercises can integrate with an Apple Watch to display real-time stats on your body, such as the heart rate and calories burned.
Fitness+ will cost $9.99 a month or $79.99 a year, A single account with the service can also be shared with up to six family members.
Existing Apple Watch owners will get one month free, though they’ll need an Apple Watch Series 3 or higher. Those who buy a new Apple Watch get three months of free Fitness+.
Fitness+ will first launch with 10 workout types:
- High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
- Treadmill for running
- Treadmill for walking
- Mindful Cooldown
“Many Fitness+ workouts require no equipment at all or just a set of dumbbells, and Cycling, Treadmill, and Rowing workouts can be done using equipment from any manufacturer,” the company added. “For ultimate flexibility, most workouts range in increments of 10, 20, 30, and 45 minutes.”
Professional trainers will also lead the workouts using music from top artists. Users can also search for workouts based on the music style whether it be “chill vibes,” “upbeat anthems,” or “throwback hits,” among others.
Apple plans on releasing new workouts each week. In addition, the service will offer beginner exercises to help novices prepare for the more intensive weekly workouts. After a session is completed, users can also share (or brag) about their accomplishment on social media.
